‘Thoughtful, confident and, at times, seriously inventive..’

‘The Gallery’ -

the endgame review - July 09

‘Get me a CD!’ -  must have been the cry on everyone’s lips as the night was  drawn to a close by the rousing ‘Thorn’, at The Endgame’s recent charity gig at Lanchester Social club. The band rolled out its impressive array of music, fronted with vibrant female vocals and a clear message to all, that  these musicians love what they do, and they do it very very  well indeed. Every song was memorable and indeed there are some real classics in there, just waiting for that break. The music echoes many styles but with a distinct indie individuality, that just begs to be heard, time and time again. I cannot help but feel that this is a band in the waiting and that waiting won’t be for long. Strong lyrics and a great sound ooze  confidence, and what a collection this would make on a debut CD! – but don’t wait until then, check out the next gig and see for yourself. Thankyou, The Endgame for a great night.

‘A local band who know a thing or two about knocking out a decent tune....‘ ‘The Crack’

‘November’ EP Review - 30/12/2010
The CD sounds great.  Nice and fat.  Sarah's sounds are warm and optimistic. The lyrics are clear, meaningful and enlightening.  Guitar sounds are crafted, varied and appropriate for the tunes.  The drum sound is amazingly recorded (live, loud and raw).  The bass was divine. Lovely mix/balance.  Great mastered end product. A fabulous audio replication of the endgame. Congrats!  It's a belta!

This debut album from Durham based band The Endgame is one of those albums that comes along every now and then that everyone should hear. It's got it all, fantastic songs, fantastic playing and lyrics that you will remember. Trying to put this band in a genre is hard work as they are funky, rocking and indie all at the same time, and it works really well. I highly urge everyone to see this band live to truly understand the depth and skill of this 4 piece, i will post gig dates in the blog. As with most great abum's this one opens with a track that grabs you by the ears and promises to take you on a smooth and fun ride, 'Torn' is the first track, think of a bit of Santana with a great english band's skill and precision. At 2:30 into the song there is a break down that is just fantastic, i don't think it could be any better and it makes the track complete. As with the rest of this album The Endgame hit the mark every time, not one song are you looking at the time left to play or wishing for the next track, the two standout tracks for me are 'Torn' with it's funk and amazing break down and 'Marketplace' it's a perfect summer song with sing along lyrics and an ability to conjure memories of summers past. All in all this is a perfect debut for a band of highly skilled musicians (and thoroughly nice people may i add!)  pick up a copy either at the music pod, check the blog for address and contact details, or you can download it from iTunes. If you do anything today, purchase this album!
